Chiropractic Care
Living with pain in your lower back, neck, shoulders, or elsewhere can feel like your body is working against you. Chiropractic care goes beyond making discomfort disappear, and at Portillo Chiropractic we help patients understand how their body works as a whole.
Our chiropractor, Dr. Juan-Carlos Portillo, has spent 40 years helping patients reconnect with their bodies and take an active role in their healing.
Understanding Your Body’s Central Control
Your body is controlled by your nervous system, with signals traveling from your brain through your spine to every tissue and cell. When that flow is interrupted by tension, misalignment, or irritation, your body can’t function the way it’s designed to.
Chiropractic care helps reduce these interruptions so your nervous system communicates clearly with the rest of your body.
Addressing Tension and Misalignment
Dr. Portillo adjusts primarily by hand, using low-force techniques that are effective without being aggressive. If you’re nervous about certain adjustments, he can use an Activator Methods® instrument for a lighter touch. Before any adjustment, he uses applied kinesiology, a form of muscle testing, to assess where your body is holding stress.
To support your comfort, Dr. Portillo uses a Leander® flexion-distraction table, a flexible adjusting surface that moves in a slow, rhythmic motion to relax tight muscles and open joint spaces, allowing work on your lower back without forceful twisting.
Clear Pathways for Complete Health
Patients of our chiropractic practice report success in addressing:
- Lower back discomfort and muscle tension
- Neck stiffness and headaches
- Shoulder and knee concerns
- Digestive challenges like constipation, heartburn, or irregularity
- Sleep disruptions, including waking in the night
Because digestion, stress, and movement are closely linked, addressing all of them may lead to more lasting relief.
Remove Interruptions, Regain Vitality
Our goal for our patients is lasting wellness. You’ll receive guidance on home exercises, breathing, and daily habits that support your progress.
At Portillo Chiropractic, you’re treated as a whole person, not simply the collection of symptoms you’re experiencing. Contact us today to schedule your free consultation or to book your first visit.
